Tags

Tags are labels you attach to notes. Unlike Topics, which define where a note lives, Tags describe what a note is about. A single note can carry multiple tags, and a tag can span any number of Topics.

Creating a tag

Tags can be created two ways:

• From the tag manager - open the sidebar and click Manage Tags. Enter a name and pick an optional colour to identify the tag at a glance.
• Inline while editing a note - type in the tags field of any note input and select or create a tag without leaving the editor.

Applying tags to notes

Open any note for editing and use the tag field to attach one or more tags. As you type, existing tags appear as suggestions; press Enter or click a suggestion to apply it. There is no limit to how many tags a note can have.

Filtering notes by tag

Tags cut across Topic boundaries. Clicking a tag anywhere in the app filters your view to show every note carrying that tag, regardless of which Topic it belongs to.

This makes Tags useful for cross-topic themes. For example, a vocab tag applied to notes in both a Spanish Topic and an Italian Topic lets you review all vocabulary together in one session.

Deleting a tag

In the tag manager, click the delete icon next to a tag. Deleting a tag removes it from all notes that carry it; the notes themselves are unaffected.

Tips

• Use colours to signal categories at a glance. For example, orange for vocabulary, purple for grammar, green for cultural notes.
• Keep tag names short and consistent. vocab is easier to scan than vocabulary words.
• Avoid duplicating what a Topic already expresses. If all notes in a Topic are about Spanish, a spanish tag on every note adds noise rather than signal.
